Day 10

Thursday 6th August:

Today was the day. The final Shul of Rock was held, the building put back in order, and our suitcases packed.
We packed up the coaches, and said goodbye to The Peace Village. We settled down on the coaches for our long journey to the crossing. We finally reached Calais, and after a small delay, boarded the ferry to cross the Channel again.
We were all tired after a jam packed ten days, and used the journey to catch up on some sleep and chill time. We soon arrived back in London, everyone happy to be home.
We’re sad it’s over but we’ve had such an unbelievable time, and all become such close friends.
Thanks for joining us on this blog.

Day 9

Wednesday 5th August

Sadly our last day of camp. We began with our penultimate Shul of Rock, before our morning activity. We then moved on to a competitive but fun hunger games tochnit, where 8 teams rotated stations such as pillow fights and ultimate Frisbee. There was a lot of energy in the camp as the kids went all out for their last activity!

Next was our final challenge activity, where we had an engaging discussion about life in the community, followed by prep for our closing activity, an amazing talent show.

The site was cleared up first, in order to welcome our special guest... The Chief Rabbi Mervis. It was an amazing opportunity to hear him speak to us, as well as a chance to ask our questions and take a selfie or two.

After our visitor left, we had a feedback session with just the participants and Rosh, so everyone could discuss the aspects of camps they like and dislike. This helps us to ensure their input is used to make Tribe camps even better in future.
We had our last dinner, and then were blown away by the amazing talent displayed by everyone. An amazing way to end an incredible 10 days of camp!

Day 8

Tuesday 4th August

A tense day in camp, as colour war broke out! Just after breakfast both Barak and Kerach camp came together to split into four teams, all battling it out to be the champion team.

Activities and challenges, including Pictionary, marshmallow tower, obstacle courses and egg and spoon races, were held throughout the morning, as the four different colours waged a war of ruach, creativity and imagination. It was great to see everyone get dressed up in their colours!

After lunch the afternoon continued with a three part treasure hunt, the winnings of which allowed the groups to purchase talented staff members and stage props for their team’s concert, which would be held that evening.

After dinner we had an exciting game of capture the flag, where the kids had one final chance to grab points for their team. The day culminated in a large concert performed by the kids and then by the visiting Community Rabbis, before the winning team was announced.

Day 7

Monday 3rd August

Another great morning in Shul of Rock before breakfast. A fun activity of 60 minute makeover, where the kids had one hour, like the classic TV show, to transform one of the rooms in the building according to their given themes. The building looked great, and iClub was enhanced by the new surroundings.

The afternoon’s activities continued with sports and games, including a massive camp water fight. The perfect way to cool down in the fantastic weather here!

In the evening we had an exciting tochnit of Wide Game, with the kids running around, catching each other in the dark, having a great time, culminating in stargazing on the open lawn area!

Day 6

Sunday 2nd August

Another exciting day trip! Today we went to Ecopark Adventures, an exploratory and amazing experience for the children, where we were able to have fun doing high ropes activities, while also enjoying the beautiful nature around us.

We made sure to have a filling breakfast after our morning tefilla session, before leaving The Peace Village for our fun day out. We arrived in great spirits, and had a great time, overcoming some fears and challenges while helping each other.

We arrived back in a great mood, although a little exhausted after such an active day. We had another challenge activity, before sitting down to a hot dinner. Tonight, dinner was filled with laughter and fun, as we had a special Supper Quiz. It was great to see everyone engaged and enjoying the test of knowledge, and seeing the teams work together to get the right answers.
